This is one of the best and most affordable sushi places around. The prices were great and the portions were generous (the edamame bowl was huge)! The service was excellent, and really made the experience extra special. They were great with my kids and engaging with them. The miso soup was the best miso soup I've ever had.

Honestly, this is a place that plays it safe. Its not amazing, but its not bad. From trying the udon and ramen, youll instantly think "wow, I could make this at home." However, for the price it isnt bad, but for such a good price its not the best tasting. Also, the sushi rolls weren't the best. They were wrapped poorly with rice falling out the rolls and also lacked any taste.

My go-to sushi place! Have been coming here since I was a child, pretty much the only Japanese-owned restaurant in the area. The sushi is just incredible and is more affordable than most other sushi places. The service can be slow, especially at peak hours since it's really only the owner making the sushi. He has always been very kind to me and the groups I've brought here. To me, it's always worth the wait. It can help to go at times closer to their last call (which I think is 30 minutes before the restaurant closes) or soon after it opens. The lunch special is a great deal if you can make it at that time of day.

I come here as much as possible, i’m a chapel hill local and with all the fun and diverse food i still catch myself running here. the ramen is brothy, not too much toppings and yummy noodles. I personally love the lava roll, i love how they warm it up, definitely worth trying. the staff is so friendly and always very welcoming, if you’re ever wanting a cozy bowl of ramen, kuramas is the place.

I was surprised to find such a wonderful Japanese restaurant in this North Carolina town. While there are many Japanese restaurants in US,very few are actually run by Japanese people. I came to this restaurant because I suspected the owner was Japanese, and the food was truly authentic and wonderful. The warm dipping sauce for the shrimp tempura showed thoughtful attention to detail, a touch I associate with Japan. The udon broth was also excellent. The beef bowl could have used a little more meat, but the flavor was outstanding! I was also surprised by the quality of the mackerel and salmon roe at this price. Everything on the menu was less than half the usual price, so I was skeptical, but I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. I think the owner could easily charge more. I'm giving it 4 stars because the curry had too many large pieces of ingredients and not enough sauce, but perhaps this style is more impactful for US customers?
